Frequently Asked Questions:
- Q. What does Holistic Breeder mean?
- A. We take a more natural/organic approach to caring for our dogs. They are fed raw/organic food, purified chemical free water, and organic treats. All bedding material is toxin free, toys are made from organic hemp, and the indoor air they breathe is filtered by a medical grade, high quality carbon block/hepa filter unit. We use organic essential oils and classical music to promote a calm soothing atmosphere for them. We use natural methods of heath care such as acupuncture, chiropractic, Chinese herbs, and raw foods to prevent sickness and promote healing. They are provided much play time and plenty of outside enjoyment. They are each given personal attention and LOTS of love.
- Q. How old is the puppy when I can take it home?
- A. Eight (8) weeks.
- Q. How do I know I won't be scammed?
- A. If the price seems to good to be true.....it is probably is a scam. Buy from a reputable breeder found on the American Kennel Club website. AKC registered breeders have a proven lineage of their dogs. Certificates are issued and bloodlines traced. When you buy a puppy from OUR HOME you are given the puppy's AKC litter registration and parentage papers. As well as the Vet check certification and veterinary office contact information AND a Health Guarantee Contract.
- Q. Why does a French Bulldog cost so much?
- Frenchies are more expensive because they are more difficult to breed and do not normally have very large litters. Prices will also vary by color and by DNA. Puppies are normally $2,500 to $4,500 but we have seen ones with specialty colors range from $13,000 to $35,000. Seems to be the East and West coasts charge more than Midwestern states but then that also applies to cost of living and housing markets too. That being said: Everyone knows there is high and low quality to anything. If you put junk in you get junk out. So you get what you pay for...our Frenchies are loved and treated accordingly with holistic vet care, acupuncture, herbal medicine, organic green foods, organic treats & food, natural toys, orthopedic non-toxic beds, etc. WE love our pets and it shows! We have seen many blogs and articles about Frenchies skin conditions and problems but we do not have that. All our Frenchies have a lovely soft coat and no health issues. Quality Breeds Quality.
- Why do you require a deposit?
- Deposits are required so that a puppy can be reserved. When people just say they want a puppy they tend to be unreliable buyers. You put your deposit down so that the puppy is reserved for you. If you back out we keep the deposit because we have to FIND another buyer at the last moment. We also feel if you can't commit to a deposit you may not be a committed owner.
- How much care does my Frenchie require?
- Frenchies are a low energy dog but NEED to be with their owners. They are very people oriented and attach themselves to you. They are happiest when by your side or on your lap. Our Frenchies love to play but are equally happy to chew a bone or take a nap on your lap.
- Frenchies do NOT do well in extreme conditions. They like warmer temperatures and will find the sunshine patches to sit in during the day. They will DIE if they are left outside in the heat or cold. Our Frenchies never spend more that 15 to 30 minutes outside at a time. Extreme humidity or dampness causes kindey and liver issues with Frenchies but can be easily treated with holistic medicine. We urge owners to find a vet that will do alternative therapy at least a few times a year. Watch for excessive licking of paws, itching of ears, scooting their backside across floor as these are all indicators of allergies or other issues that are fully treatable WITHOUT medication. Prescription antibiotics & other Medication can stop liver function and cause other stomach issues in your Frenchie. Knowledge is the key. Not all vets "specialize" in Frenchie care even though some vets may act like "a dog is a dog" and that, in our opinion, does not prove to be true. Each one of our Frenchies is unique and has had different reactions to foods or treats.
